February 2022 Newsletter

 Dear Members of St Patrick’s

The HUCF property has been sold to Russell and Kate Bowden thus signifying the end of the HUCF. The proceeds have been donated to Hobbiton and Jikani. We shall have a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday 20 February 2022 at 10am to give thanks for such a fine ending to the HUCF saga.

Services have returned to normal with tea afterwards where congregants can mingle, socialize and bond. We hope that members will now flock to services again. Thank you to those in the congregation who continue to tithe and so enabled the chapel to pay its dues and donate to our beneficiaries during the period of Covid 19 restrictions. If you are not tithing and would like to do so, please pay your contribution to our chapel bank account mentioning your name and the word tithe: St Patrick’s Chapel Council, Standard Bank, 050319, a/c 082147493. Thank you.

Our Patronal Festival, St Patrick’s Day, is on Thursday 17 March 2022. Vestry will be held on Sunday 20 March 2022 where annual reports will be presented and councillors for 2022 elected. The current councillors are happy to continue but we look forward to ‘new blood’ as well. Please support and volunteer to serve. Good Friday is on 15 April and Easter Sunday 17 April 222.

Ann and I would like to thank all at St Patrick’s not only for the joy of worshipping in the chapel but also for the privilege of being able to serve the chapel for 15 years. What an incredible highlight it has been! From next year we will be based at Kennersley Park Retirement Complex, Bonza Bay, East London, but will visit often. Although we will still have our house here, we shall miss the magic of living in Hogsback.

Thank you.

Trevor Webster

Chapel Warden
